Angus and Julia Stone lyrics

I blame you Hollywood,
for showing me things you never should
show a young girl,
In a cruel world.

Because life’s not a happy ending,
I’m sure there is some,
like Johnny and June,
and maybe other people too.

They all would have been killed
in the sound of music,
they would have found out that
Pinocchio could never tell the truth.

She never would have made it to shore,
the little mermaid. He would have married a whore
from a wealthy family, after all he was royalty.

Cinderella would have scrubbed those floors
till her hands grew old and tired,
and nobody would look away,
that’s the way it goes today.

I blame you Hollywood,
for showing me things you never should
show a young girl,
In this cruel world.

Because life’s not a happy ending,
I’m sure there is some
like Johnny and June,
and maybe other people too.

And maybe other people too (x5)
Like me and you.

Put your music player on random.
Post the first line from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song. Some songs I have posted 2 lines. Some songs I have missed the boring talking bits at the start.
Let everyone guess what song and artist.
Mark the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!

1. Hello there the angel from my nightmare
2. The last fire will rise behind those eyes - Cry little sister - Gerard Mcmann - Lost boys sound track (Hef)
3.
How to Motivate the Opposite Sex

Men feel motivated when they feel needed. Women feel motivated when they feel cherished.

If in a relationship, when a man doesn’t feel needed, he gradually becomes passive and less energized. As the days go on he feels he has less and less to offer. On the flip side, when he feels he can fulfill her needs and is appreciated for his efforts, he becomes empowered and has more to give.

Women, love to feel cherished. If she does not feel this way, she becomes compulsively responsible and exhausted from giving too much. On the other hand, when she feels cared for and respected, she is fulfilled and has more to give as well.

Speaking Different Languages

Gray claims that the communication styles between Martians and Venusians is just as different as their individual needs.

Women for example express feelings when they communicate and men tend to express information. When a woman says, “We never go out” a man typically takes this literally, thinking that he has in some way failed. Because of that, he may respond saying, “What are you talking about? We went out last week!” But what she really is doing is expressing more of a feeling than a fact. Instead, it should be interpreted as, “I feel like going out and doing something together. We always have such a fun time, and I love being with you. What do you think? It has been a few days since we went out.”

One of the biggest challenges for men is to correctly interpret and support a woman when she is talking about her feelings. On the other hand, a woman’s biggest challenge is to correctly interpret and support a man when he isn’t talking.

According to Gray, most women misinterpret a man’s silence. Depending on how her mood is, just because he is silent she may begin to imagine that he hates her or doesn’t lover her and so on. In addition, she mistakingly thinks that if she asks him lots of questions about how he is feeling, being a good listener, then he will feel better. This only upsets men all the more.

Both men and women need to stop offering the method of caring they would prefer and instead begin to learn the different ways their partners think, react, and feel.

Consider these differences in communication that Gray outlines:

Both men and women talk to convey or gather information but for men this is generally the only reason they talk.

A woman talks to discover what she wants to say while a man stops talking to figure out inside what wants to say.

If upset, a woman feels better and more centered when she can talk about it. A man will stop talking when he is upset. This gives him time to cool off.

A woman will talk to create intimacy. By sharing her inner feelings she is able to know herself again. A man will stop talking to find himself. Too much intimacy, he fears, will rob him of himself.

mars venus

Men Go to Their Caves and Women Talk

One of the major points of Gray’s book is the difference in the way men and women react under stress. He believes that many men become focused and withdrawn, retreating to their “cave” where they can find a solution to the problem. Women, on the other hand, deal with stress by talking about the problem. Talk, for women, creates intimacy.

This difference leads to the the dynamic of the man retreating as the woman constantly tries to grow closer. As a result, this becomes a huge source of unnecessary tension in a relationship.

When the two begin to understand and accept each other’s differences, this tension will be released. Women will see that when a man goes into his cave, it is not a sign that he doesn’t love her. He’s just dealing with stress. Men will realize that when a woman is talking about her problems, it is not because he is failing her in some way, but that she just needs that release and will soon be back to normal when she feels she’s been heard.

mars venus

One of my fav books is "men are from Mars women are from venus". Awesome book. I found out that John Gray got his theory from being a budist monk for 9 years in a monistary apparently. Some of the rest of his books are kinda crappy, but this one took the world by storm when it came out. It has theories obviously, but is interesting to contemplate. Here is an excerpt.

Mr. Fix-It and the Home-Improvement Committee

According to Gray, the most frequent complaint that women have about men is that they don’t listen. Either he completely ignores her when she’s speaking or he listens for a few moments, figures out what’s bothering her and immediately puts on his “Mr. Fix-It” hat — offering a solution to make her feel better. She wants empathy, but he thinks she wants solutions.

What it really comes down to is that when men hear that there’s a problem they naturally want to fix it. However, men need to understand that women don’t want their problems ‘fixed’ they want their problems to be acknowledged.

For men, their most frequent complaint of women is that they are always trying to change them. She forms a “Home-Improvement Committee”, with him as her primary focus. She feels responsible for his growth and no matter how much he resists, she looks for any opportunity to help him or tell him what to do. She thinks she’s nurturing him, but he feels controlled and only wants her acceptance.

Men don’t like their problems addressed unless they solicit for help themselves. When a women offers a man unsolicited advice, he assumes she thinks he doesn’t know what to do or that he can’t do it himself.
I have been thinking of buying a cat for my appartment. I need to get permission from the body corporate to have one, but I think the people downstairs have a dog periodically. I didn't realise that the last time I myself had a cat that owned me it was quite a few years ago and she has long gone. I didn't realise it, but seriously thinking about getting another cat brought up the pain of losing her again. Probably better get over it sometime.

updates

Well it's been a while. A few updates.

Same Job. Been spending a little more time sewing. Getting excited for a victorian dress a la Hef. Having a bit of a holiday. Or it feels like it because no extra work being done. Getting my tax done this weekend. Had my house warming party. All in all I only killed my phone and a tile on my balcony. Good effort.

That Jamie Oliver show was on lastnight. The one where he kills the chickens. Although I am for his whole main point and totally agree with his values, I just couldn't bring myself to watch the chicken killing show. I already refuse to by cage eggs and prefer free range even if they are much more expensive and also Kieran has convinced me (it took little convincing) to switch from the cheap coles chicken to the free range chicken. So I thought it a lost cause anyway for me to be watching it.

I understand there is further to go in the whole vegitarian thing, but if the simpsons has tought me anything it's that you don't win friends with salad, (that and being vegetarian is your own business. but I decided not mine).

By 3pm I live in a world of magic eye

I like to stare at magic eye images generally at about 3 in the afternoon on my computer. I find that my eyes are so tired that the inability to focus helps with seeing the images and it is a welcome change from having to focus so hard on websites or Tenders.

so far

Well I'm in! the new appartment is up and running. Also thanks to Kristen and Kane the dishwasher, fridge and washing machine is all in place and installed. It was touch and go there with the dishwasher as we thought it was peeing, but so far it's looking good. I have a new lounge and internet and all I need now is a TV stand. So now I need to keep my job for at least the next 3 years. By then I would have paid off my car and should be in a bit of a better position. House warming in around June. After the wedding of pam 'n james.

Also I went for karate grading on Saturday. Hopfully I'm green belt. If I can double grade. I did stuff up quite royally, but lets see how we go.
White > Red > Yellow > Orange > Green > Blue > purple > brown > black.

When I was at the grading a puppy followed me home. It looked so ragged with those big eyes I had to help it find it's owner. So I took it to my parents and left some food for it and they dropped it off at the vet the next day. It was very cute.

my two cents

When I was in New York, I walked past an African American guy and he said as me and my friend was walking past "White trash, Mother $%^&ing white trash" in sort of a gangster looking way. I actually thought that this was awsome because it was part of the American culture that I had never been exposed to. I think as a whole us Australians are actually an open minded bunch.

Apparently I'm not fit

I joined a gym. I had my first real personal training session. They are pretty awsome. But I had it at 8am. Never again! It was crazy. Apparently I have the fitness of a 68 year old according to their calculations! The guy trained me like on the biggest looser and I swear I felt like throwing up for most of it. That was only for 20 mins. Fat people on TV do this for 4 hours! That's crazy. Apparently I'm not gyming enough. And Karate did nothing for me all last year fitness wise.

mmmm sleeep

So my weekend was good. At Kieran's Saturday. Went shopping for some yummy stuff. Watched the rest of Angel. We are on to dawson's creek now. Then it is Kieran's turn to pick a series he would like to watch together. I already have a few in mind I would like to watch. DVDs are a great thing. Saturday night I went to the game. Was quite fun. Sunday went shopping for a new dress. We the material anyway. I bought some really nice sparkly stuff and some satin. It's going to look nice.

I have just recently discovered I have an eye twitch. There are LOTS of theories about these on the internet apparently. As well as lots of theories about curing it.

I'm looking forward to the 2 weeks holiday I get at the beginning of April for when I move into my appartment. Yay for February being a short month.

Well we last night did our ritual of home made lasagne. This means I have lasagne for dinner also! It was very yummy. Kizz bought me a rose which was nice and then we spent the night in watching Angel. We are almost finished with Angel. Got 3 episodes left!

"I have asked them to DVD their meeting"

So what is the deal with the word record. I was writing an email with the sentence "I have asked them to tape their meeting". Then I realised that Tape is not a good word as it is so old. So I changed the word to record. But record is an even older means of audio. So what is it now? "I have asked them to DVD their meeting", "I have asked them to Mpeg their meeting". Well technically it should be "I have asked them to burn their meeting", but that indicated that it is already in a file format and then is being put onto a CD.
